What North Brisbane sellers need to know before selling an insurance write-off for cash in QLD.
An insurance write-off is not the end of the road for your car's value. In Queensland you can still sell a written-off vehicle for cash, as long as you understand what you are selling.
Two kinds of write-off
Written-off vehicles in Queensland are recorded on the Written-Off Vehicle Register (WOVR) as one of two types:
- Statutory write-off. The damage is severe enough that the car can never be re-registered. It can only be sold for parts or scrap.
- Repairable write-off. The car can be repaired and, after passing a written-off vehicle inspection, re-registered.
Can you still sell it?
Yes. We buy both statutory and repairable write-offs as-is. You do not need to repair anything or arrange an inspection first, and we handle the removal so you are not left with a car that is no longer roadworthy.
What you will need
- Proof of ownership, such as your registration papers.
- Photo identification.
- Your number plates removed if you are cancelling the registration.
